Since 2004, the LMCC dba/PowerForward DuPage has been providing college tuition assistance annually to the children of IBEW Local 701 members and signatory contractors. IBEW Local 701 members are also eligible to apply and as of 2022, grandchildren are now eligible. Our scholarship is intended to provide support to full time students accepted at or attending a four year accredited college undergraduate program or community college.
To apply for this scholarship in subsequent years, a grade point average of 2.75 (based on a 4.0 grading system) must be maintained. Scholarships are selected on the basis of academic performance, extracurricular activities, employment experience, financial need and future goals.
In 2024, (5) $1,500 scholarships were awarded and the winners are listed on our website under “News & Events”. Scholarships are awarded for one year and may be applied for again in each of the four years while attending school. Scholarship awards are to be used for tuition and/or fees, books, room, and board expenses. The number of scholarships awarded is at the sole discretion of the LMCC/PowerForward DuPage Board of Directors and all award payments are made directly to the educational institution.
