Dirk Enger

Dirk Enger speaks for MSHV at the PowerForward DuPage golf outing. Enger is from Winfield and is a USMC combat veteran of Operation Desert Storm and a union iron worker who works with government agencies, veteran service organizations, trade unions, and other entities in exploring the possibility of opening a transitional housing program for veterans of all areas in DuPage County, Illinois.

PowerForward DuPage was pleased to help the locally-based Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans (MSHV) raise funds for their organization at the 17th Annual PowerForward DuPage Golf Outing held on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013.

Based in Wheaton, Ill., MSHV serves 15 homeless veterans with transitional housing at their LCpl. Nicholas Larson Home for Veterans, as well as provides six low income veterans with affordable housing at the SSgt. Robert J. Miller Home. Since 2007, the organization has improved the lives of more than 60 veterans, along with outreach services to more than 200 homeless people.

MSHV was able to raise funds from PowerForward DuPage members and partners who graciously donated nearly $1,000 to improve the lives of the homeless veterans who are served through MSHV. The organization will use the contributions to fund their own upcoming golf outing that is their largest fundraiser of the year. If you would like to support this great cause and organization or participate in the MSHV Golf Outing on August 25, 2013 at Klein Creek, call 630.871.VETS or visit their website helpaveteran.org. PowerForward DuPage extends special thanks to our members and partners for showing their support to MSHV and to MSHV for participating in our event.
