Celebrating its grand opening this past summer, Titan Electric was part of the $25 million interior and exterior transformation for Le Méridien Chicago – Oakbrook Center.
Located in Oak Brook, IL, directly adjacent to Oakbrook Center, the 10-story building serves as a hub for both business and leisure. Acquired by Starwood Hotel & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., Le Méridien is a Paris-born hotel brand, represented by 100 properties in more than 40 countries.
Sporting a new outer façade, Le Méridien Chicago – Oakbrook Center offers 172 guestrooms, a Presidential Suite and two Spa Suites, all of them including 48” flat-screen HDTVs and Wi-Fi. Highlights of the Spa Suites include stone tiled rain shower steam rooms with 32” heated mosaic tile bed amidst six body sprayers and soaking tub. Guests can gather in the newly developed Le Méridien Hub™ experience, which re-interprets the traditional lobby into a social gathering place. Le Méridien Hub™ consists of large-scale artwork in high impact areas, Le Méridien’s signature scent and the use of sound and light, creating a unique and distinctive atmosphere.
Other features of the hotel include a proprietary new bar and El Tapeo, a sleek restaurant and lounge with a variety of meeting spaces on the 9th floor, a spacious fitness center outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment and 3,500 square feet of event space.
Titan Electric’s involvement included the installation of a 3,000 amp 480/277 volt service for building power and a 30
kw diesel generator for the fire pump controller. Also installed throughout the hotel was new electrical wiring in 172 guestrooms and two kitchens (located on the 1st and 9th floor), LED lighting and a new lighting control system.
Titan’s Low Voltage Division involvement included the installation of a Wi-Fi system, new Cat #6 wiring for data, coaxial cabling to each room and other areas of the hotel, a new speaker system and a new state of art fire alarm system with smoke evacuation per Starwood requirements.
General contracting services were provided by Plante’s Hotel Renovation.
