Continental Electrical Construction Company, in partnership with EDP Renewables, recently installed an
872 kW AC / 766 kW DC rooftop solar array at the Walmart Supercenter in Darien. The Darien store
is one of eight stores the two partnered on in the area, where EDPR developed the projects and Continental constructed the arrays.
The rooftop solar array spans 100,000 square feet featuring 2,208 solar modules and eight solar inverters on the roof. Continental completed construction with their IBEW Local 701 electricians over the course of about seven weeks and turned the system on in October 2020.
As of June 16th, 2021, the array has produced over 560 megawatt-hours of energy in 2021, equivalent to powering 157 homes during that time.
