The Local 701 RENEW Committee and the Local 701 Women’s Committee are definitely making the holidays a little brighter for area residents in need.

The RENEW  (Reach out and Engage Next-gen Electrical Workers) Committee recently collected  and delivered over 740 pounds of food and other household staple items to Loaves & Fishes, a local non profit in Naperville that works to end hunger & food insecurity by providing reliable access to healthy foods. The Naperville-based agency distributed 3,885,219 lbs of food to more than 4,600 families in 2017 and services needy families in communities throughout DuPage County.

The Local 701 Women’s Committee hosted a Winter Coat Drive this fall to benefit DuPage Pads  and an overwhelming 25 bags of men’s, women’s and children’s coats, hats, gloves, mittens, socks, and even boots were collected during the 8-week period! The items were delivered last month to the agency’s storage facility, where the items will be separated and given to those in need over the winter. DuPage Pads is the largest provider of interim and permanent housing for the homeless in DuPage County.

Thank you to ALL who donated to both the food drive and the coat drive, especially the 701 membership and the employees at Gibson Electric and Technology Solutions!
