PowerForward DuPage was pleased to sponsor a recent event that discussed the electrification of school bus fleets. Speaker panels touched upon three key areas of consideration before undertaking such an effort: infrastructure and planning needs, successful funding and implementation strategies, and the importance of a clean environment for our students and the community.

Thank you to all who participated and attended, especially our speakers: Naperville School District 203 Superintendent Dan Bridges, ComEd’s Director of External Affairs Philip Roy, City of Naperville’s Electric Utility Director Brian Groth, Williamsfield School District 210 Superintendent Tim Farquer, and DuPage County Health Department’s Executive Director Adam Forker.

The morning discussion was certainly informative but it was the tour of Lion Electric’s LIONC bus that really got the crowd energized! Many commented how incredibly quiet and sleek it was as for many in attendance, this was the first time seeing and touring an electric school bus.

Thank you to our sponsors Lion Electric, Highland Fleets, Equity in Health Advisors Network, the Environmental Law & Policy Center; River Prairie Chapter of the Sierra Club and Bus2Grid. Special thanks to the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County and the staff at Mayslake Peabody Estate in Oak Brook for providing us with such a lovely and historic venue. A short video recap is posted below.
