Earlier this month, several members of the IBEW Local 701 Women’s Committee headed down to Springfield for Illinois Tradeswomen Advocacy Day. Our Executive Director, Karyn M. Charvat, met up with them as she was also in Springfield advocating for the Illinois Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association!
The blended crowd of building trade affiliates, labor leaders, workers, contractors, and community advocates awash in purple, met with elected officials on ways to empower women entering careers in construction and on ways they could support local legislation designed to help those living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia.
