WE BRING THE POWER: Empowering Women in Electrical Construction

The IBEW Local 701’s Women’s Committee held their first expo last month and welcomed a crowd of interested attendees wanting to learn more about a potential career in the electrical contracting industry.

They were treated to a tour of the JATC’s classrooms and pipe shop and heard from a panel of electricians at different places in their career path: an apprentice, a journeywoman, and a retired member. The panel was moderated by the Women’s Committee’s founding member and event chair, Debbie Erbach.

Opening remarks were given by DuPage County Board Chair, Deb Conroy; IBEW 6th District’s International Vice President, Mike Clemmons; and IBEW Local 701’s Business Manager, Anthony Giunti.

Members of the Women’s Committee were on hand to answer questions and to lead the tour. We hope to host another expo in the Spring of 2026!
