Titan Electric recently completed Omron Corporation’s new office build-out in northwest suburban Hoffman Estates, IL. Originally located in Schaumburg, Omron moved its North and South America Group Head Office to the Greenspoint Office Park, occupying the first three floors of the office building. Headquartered in Kyoto, Japan, Omron is a global leader in automation and medical equipment.
Features of the 70,000 square foot facility include open office areas, private offices and conference rooms as well as a training center, fitness room, lunchroom and laboratory facilities. Incorporating the company’s Japanese origins, a metal screen pattern was created, repeating throughout the space as ceiling elements and dividing panels. The space also includes a Japanese Reception Room to formally receive guests on the third floor.
The room features high-end millwork and light fixtures, wood slat ceilings and decorative metal screens throughout. Completed in a very aggressive 10-week schedule, there were a number of owner-driven design changes which affected construction that had already been completed. For instance, the electrical room and generator locations were not determined until several weeks into the project, creating challenges for both the design and construction teams.
Titan Electric’s involvement included the installation of an 800 AMP emergency service and a 40 KVA UPS unit with 2 hour backup. A 125kw 480 volt generator with transfer switches was also installed for back up service to numerous labs throughout. Titan re-worked an existing 3000 AMP and 2500 AMP service and assisted with the electrical hookup of 280 workstations. In addition to a new fire alarm system, brand new lighting, a lighting control system and dimming system were installed throughout the tenant space.
General contracting services were provided by J.C. Anderson, Inc. and architectural services were provided by Gensler.
