McWilliams Electric Company coordinated their 27th Annual Construction Team Picnic to benefit the Special Olympics athletes at the IBEW-NECA Technical Institute in Alsip on Saturday, July 25th, 2026. A few members of the IBEW Local 701 Women’s Committee were on hand to help with the games and activities!
The picnic raises funds for athletes within Illinois’ Region E, which includes Will, Grundy, Kankakee and Southern Cook Counties, and helps offset their costs to participate in the annual Special Olympics Summer Games. PowerForward DuPage has been a proud sponsor of this annual event since 2013.
And earlier this summer, the Women’s Committee held an incredibly successful clothing drive for WINGS, a domestic violence shelter that provides housing, integrated services, education and advocacy to end domestic violence.
Serving on a volunteer committee is more than just volunteering time or resources. It is an opportunity to improve the lives of others, which on its own is rewarding. But giving back also leaves an impact, one far greater than the time spent planning meetings or attending the service project.
For there is nothing that compares to realizing the difference your work has made in the life of a child or adult and seeing their gratitude reflected in their smiles.
So to the Women’s Committee, we say THANK YOU, not only for your time and efforts, but for bringing light and hope to those who need it most.
