The IBEW Local 701 hosts a Christmas party for the members and their families every year and decided 2020 would be no exception. Preparations were made to host the annual celebration outdoors as a ‘drive-thru’ party, complete with individually wrapped treats, juice boxes, and of course, loads of presents from the big guy himself, Santa!
As the cars formed a long line, children were so excited to see him – a few even popping up through sunroofs to catch a glimpse of Santa or his hard-working elves. Some wrote cards and letters, others yelled his name and many just waved and smiled, so happy to recognize a little normalcy in a holiday season that has been anything but normal.
Thank you to the IBEW Local 701, the IBEW Local 701 Social Committee, Santa and his elves, and all the volunteers for creating a safe, socially distanced, and brilliant way to bring a little holiday joy to the children of IBEW Local 701!
Update: On behalf of the membership, the IBEW Local 701 donated and delivered the remaining gifts and presents to GiGi’s Playhouse Fox Valley on December 14th. GiGi’s Playhouse offers free therapeutic & educational programming to individuals of all ages with Down syndrome.
