Never underestimate the power of one.

Debbie Erbach of the IBEW Local 701 Women’s Committee set out to do a volunteer service project this month that would make a difference in someone’s life. She ended up making a difference in the lives of over 70 children currently receiving medical treatment at both Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield and Edward-Elmhurst Health Hospital in Naperville.

Erbach designed and decorated Valentine’s Day cards and delivered them to the Ronald McDonald House in Winfield who will distribute the valentines to children and their families staying in the RMHC Family Rooms at both hospitals and at the RMHC House in Winfield.

“I just wanted to bring a smile to these children’s faces and let them know someone is thinking of them,” Erbach said.

The IBEW Local 701 Women’s Committee was awarded their charter in 2019, becoming the 4th women’s committee to receive a charter in the IBEW’s 6th District. Committee work includes the Local 701 winter coat drive, volunteering at the DuPage County Trade Apprenticeship Expo, serving as guest speakers at local high school college days, election phone banking, and installing holiday light displays among other various activities.
