Members of the IBEW Local 701 Women’s Committee have once again volunteered their time in an effort to warm hearts and bring smiles to those who are in need. They designed and decorated Valentine’s Day cards for the Ronald McDonald House in Winfield.
RMHC will distribute the valentines today to children currently receiving medical treatment at both Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield and Edward-Elmhurst Health Hospital (now part of Endeavor Health) in Naperville and their families staying in the RMHC Family Rooms at both hospitals and at the RMHC House in Winfield.
The project got its start in 2022 when Deborah Erbach, a chartering member of the Women’s Committee came up with the idea. “I just wanted to bring a smile to these children’s faces and let them know someone is thinking of them,” Erbach said.
The IBEW Local 701 Women’s Committee was awarded their charter in 2019, becoming the 4th women’s committee to receive a charter in the IBEW’s 6th District. Volunteer work includes the Local 701 winter coat drive, volunteering at the DuPage County Trade Apprenticeship Expo, serving as guest speakers at local high school college days, among other various activities.
Thank you to committee members Deborah Erbach, Madison Lampert, and Amelia Shell for organizing this heart-warming service project. Guests included Jacqueline Baines and fellow Local 701 RENEW committee members Erik Espeland, Nick Mossman, Brandon West, Leo Serna, Nathan Tomala and RENEW President Nicholas Johansen.
